Has anyone ever had a bad experience when having their cats teeth professionally cleaned?

Has anyone ever had a bad experience having their cats teeth professionally cleaned? Besides the risk of anesthia, did anyone have anything go wrong during or after the process?

Has anyone ever had a bad experience when having their cats teeth professionally cleaned?
My cats are all in their teens and have their teeth cleaned regularly when the vet deems it necessary. Even my 22 year old cat had her teeth cleaned six months before she died. The vet was extra special careful with her. She went in early in the morning and had fluids administered before undergoing the anesthesia around noon. She didn't have any problems and was wide awake and alert almost as soon as the gas was discontinued.
Reply:NO NOTHING WENT WRONG
Reply:No, Pumpkin did fine. And I think he even feels better. I adopted him from a "no kill" shelter. They found him in a cage on a puppy mill farm they raided. Owner said he'd been in the cage for 2 years. He's a strawberry blonde persian and quite handsome. His eyes are the most beautiful golden color, and his purr is to die for. I'm so glad I got him. Having their teeth cleaned is important to the overall health, just like humans. You can purchase liquid tarter fighter at the pet store and also finger brushes to help keep them clean afterwards. Good Luck!
Reply:One of my cats had a problem with the anesthesia once. He was extremely lethargic and out-of-it for about two days after the procedure. He was fine after that, and the vet made a note not to use injectable preanesthetic on him because it affected him so strongly - now he just gets gas anesthesia for dentals.

Every other dental my cats have been through turned out fine, though they have had to have some teeth pulled on various occasions, poor guys.
Reply:no
Reply:When our cat %26amp; dog were young, it was OK. But when our dog was older, we had a bad experience and we should not have done it. We didn't wait for the lab tests to come back, because it had been OK in the past. I was WRONG.

Here comes the bad part..........

Her organs shut down and she went into a coma and eventually had to be put down.

Now, we brush our cats' teeth ourselves. They're not thrilled about it, but everyone survives. :-)

And there ARE vets that will do no-sedation teeth cleaning. I found one on the internet once, for my boss, and they even came to her house!

But I do appreciate a pet "owner" for caring to take care of their pet's health in any way.
Reply:its better for cats to have their teeth cleaned. not taking care of your cats teeth can lead to other serious problems. its rare that something will go wrong.
