Why does my cat grab his siblings by the back of the neck with his teeth?!?

I have a family of five cats: mom, dad, two boys and a girl. The parents are about 18 months and their kids are about 9 months.

One of the male kittens seems to be terrorizing everyone else by sneaking up on them and grabbing them by the neck, or sometimes deliberatley tackling them to grab them by the neck. He mainly does this with his brother (who also exhibits the same behavior with his siblings, but not nearly as much) and his sister, but he's tried, albiet unsuccessfully, to do it to his parents.

What's the deal? Is he he just playing or is this some kind of territorial/domination thing that cat's need to do?

Why does my cat grab his siblings by the back of the neck with his teeth?!?
Cuz he feels like hes the Jedi Master and the other cats are just jedi padawans.
Reply:Cause he doesn't have hands.
Reply:playing
Reply:he is making up for inadequacies in a lawless society.....this is his way of telling everyone that he wants to be the king of all kitties.....
Reply:I think this is common in all cats and its fun to watch.
Reply:thats what cats do...even lions...they run up on their prey and grab the back of the neck to bring them down...your cat is just playing
Reply:Because Yahoo sux and they r deleting accounts at random so get out while u still can !!! They r juz picking out and deleting to free a lot of space on their server. Find an alternate e-mail now !!! Dont say u werent warned !!
Reply:Yes, it's just a dominance thing. His mom picks him and his siblings up by the neck, that is where they learn the behavior. It's completely normal and he will probably do it the rest of his life while playing.
Reply:It is the fundamental society of their nature, much like other animals in the animal kingdom, male cats like to show their dominance over the others so they have a better chance at breeding with females.
Reply:that the way a cat carry their young, it is safe, no need to worry
Reply:They are trying to show who the Alpha kitten or the boss of the group. He wants to be the top of the pecking order.
Reply:Seems very normal to me......this is how they play. He just likes to play rougher and he is a busy kitty. He doesn't do this to his parents because they are a. bigger than he is and b. they are out of that "play like a kitten age" and he'll get smacked on the side of the head by them. Not much fun there!
Reply:the cat is suppose to do that that's how they carry each other places
Reply:It is quite natural, no need to worry. I don't know from where it came from but cats do have an instinct of sorts. When they are young their mother moves them that way, when they are older they try to do the same with their soblings. Even you, when you grab a cat by the neck, will see that the cat instantly relaxes in your hands and doesn't move.

They know it is natural even when rised by a human.
Reply:That's a domination thing, trying to apply discipline like mommy used to do.
