It is possible that your cat has developed an allergy. Plastic food bowls are a common cause of mouth irritation in cats. If you have a plastic food bowl, switch to stainless steel. If that doesn't help within a week or so or your cat starts to be in pain then you need to take her to the vet. Cats can also get tumors inside their mouths.
Reply:I am no expert... She may have been stung by a bee. This is just a guess
Reply:it is probably an abcess or a buccal tumor (tumor on the lip) the tumor could be malignant. it would be best to take her to the vet but see if it is getting any larger or smaller. also how old is she? if she is over ten chances are that it is a tumor
Reply:Well, she could have been stung by an insect or she's just allergic to something..hope she gets better!
Reply:go to a pet store and talk to a person there about this they might be able to help you okay good luck sweetie
Reply:my cat had an absess on her cheek that was all swollen, she didn't respond like it was painful either. the vet did have to cut and drain it though. it cost about 75 bucks
Reply:the first question is:When did the swelling develop? If it is a sudden thing it is probably a sting or a bite or it could be due to an allergy. If it has been a gradual, long term problem it may be something more sinister. Check out the website: www.vethelpdirect.com and this may help you decide if you need veterinary help. Of course, it is always advisable to go to the vet if in any doubt at all.
Reply:ask a vet
Reply:If the lip just swelled up all of a sudden, then chances are your cat was bit by some insect. If cat is eating, drinking and shows no signs of distress, she should be fine - unless the swolen lip staus swollen for more than a few days.
