my cat's having problems w/her teeth so i wanna attempt to clean them (even though even the vet said it's impossible)
Is it tru that u can clean cats' teeth w/baking soda?
HI there...cats need cleaning enzymes in order to remove the tartar/plaque build-up on their teeth.
Consider purchasing a toothpaste made for cats (one brand is called Petrodex: http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/pet... ) which is very inexpensive and includes a toothbrush in the kit.
Here's an instructional video on how to brush cats teeth by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine: http://www.felinevideos.vet.cornell.edu/...
Reply:Good luck, and pass the bandaids....
Reply:Give her a bone with some meat on it. That's the natural way for cats to clean their teeth. I'm with the first responder. You'll only succeed in getting hurt if you try to clean a cat's teeth.
Reply:i give mine dental treats
Reply:I don't know about that.....brushing is certainly good for them but I would stick with a meat flavored toothpaste if you use anything.
On second thought, I misread your question. The answer is no, you cannot replace the dental cleaning your vet can give. There is much you can do to prevent future problems, but if your cat's teeth need a cleaning, the vet needs to do it.
Reply:it would do the same amount of good as if you put baking soda on your own teeth. try Dental Fresh from Petsmart. you put a drop of the green liquid into her water bowl
Reply:No. Baking soda contains sodium and would be a health hazard. You can buy tooth paste formulated for animals, but good luck using it unless it's something you start when they are very young.
